Somewhere along the years I heard celery root was good for what ails you. As I recall, it helps with blood ailments, promotes a healthy nervous system, and improves memory.
Until this week I had never seen this root at the grocery. Out of curiosity I bought one to try it. Not knowing what to do with it I fgured I would either steam it or bake it.
I chose to bake it. I cut the root up into roughly 1 inch cubes. Then wrapping it in foil with butter, a sprinkle of basil, garlic salt and a dash of Worcestershire sauce, I set oven to 375 degrees and baked for 45 minutes.
The time must have been just right. The pieces were soft but firm. Yummy good with beets that I also baked. The combination of the white root and red root was pleasing to the eye and the tongue.
I suggest that when you see it in the store - Buy it!
